Essex Fanzine Compendium
Noisy fanzine and Southend Punk are putting together a compendium of Essex-based fanzines past and present, due for publication in 2008, and we need your help!
If anyone reading this is currently/was ever involved in a fanzine based in Essex and would like to get in touch and tell us about it, or help with research, please do! Any era/subject matter will be considered although we are particularly interested in music fanzines, especially those published in the 1980s/90s. Below is a list of publications we are trying to find out more about:
- Right Track Early 1980s mod zine from Ilford.
- Froth (a Delicatessen fanzine) & Subcircus (general indie) - apparently written by someone called Sarah residing in Langdon Hills, probably around 1995/96.
- Moshpit (covered bands like Manic Street Preachers, Suede) - based in Ongar.
- Nerd (covered bands like Ween, Magoo, Sammy) - apparently written by someone called Liz residing in Chelmsford.
- Ribena (covered bands like My Life Story, Posh, Mansun and Rosa Mota) - based in Hornchurch.
- Runaway (covered bands like Bunty Chunks, Yummy Fur, Armed) - based in Ilford.
- Some Shapeless Wonder (covered bands like Starseeds and Moreau's Island) - based in Benfleet and/or London.
- No Pictures (covered bands like Gold Blade, Bette Davis & the Balconettes, Soulbossa) - apparently written by someone called Jason residing in Walton on the Naze.
Exact details of format and content will be announced nearer the time, so watch this space for details!
