These guys have been together forever but have only been bringing their own manic indie show to stages across Essex for the last year or so, you'll either love them or hate them, we hope you love them.
In their own words: "Ten Tigers is a haphazard bundle of ideas and noises. We are fun loving and lo-fi and we want to change the world. Paul has been in bands before but never like this. Manda once had lessons in how to play the tambourine. CK is allergic to ewoks." Visit website.
When Noisy! first wrote about Fashoda the band got angry and wrote a song about it, maybe they'll play it at this gig, maybe they won't.
In their own words: "Fashoda Crisis formed in Southend in early 2005 as a violent reaction to the haircut bands and scenesters cluttering up what would otherwise be a thriving music scene. Described as a cross between Fugazi and Queens of the Stone Age, they combine wit, intelligence, skronky guitar riffs and extremely loud noise to create a unique sound that will peel back your skull and nest in the warm sticky goo of your subconscious." Johnny and The Mullets first caught our attention with the amazing 'Sheena' a poke at fashionistas The Horrors, and wowed us with their cover of 'Hallelujah' - punk and heartfelt ballads? Yes, YES!
In their own words: "We write songs for feelings, for dreamings and dancings. We're fed up of dancing to the same old songs in bars, reading the same old news." Visit website.
The Machines are Southend's first punk band, the second incarnation of the band sees them gigging hard and they'll even be making an appearance at this year's Rebellion festival in Blackpool.
In their own words, the recently reformed band play: "key Punk Rock ’n’ Roll songs that hadn’t been heard in a long time." Visit website. Click here to view a promo video of the Machines' Girl In Black on the Festival Previews website!
The first 50 people through the door will receive a nice goody bag put together with much love by Noisy!, What delights will you find inside? There will be an exclusive EP by Southend punk band The Get - made especially for this event, that's for sure. There might be some merch from Southend brit-poppers My Life Story, Bubblegum Slut fanzine promo Cds and there will definitely be badges, oh yes, there will be badges....
From Dr Feelgood and Eddie & the Hot Rods, Alison Moyet and Depeche Mode, My Life Story, Menswear, Blur, right up to Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly, Scroobius Pip and The Horrors, Essex has always had a rich music scene. Local music fanzine Noisy pays tribute to the county's musical heritage and talented individuals who have documented the scene past and present in a small exhibition running alongside a live music event showcasing four punk bands from the Southend area.
The Photographers
Giacomino C. Parkinson has been taking pictures of Southend bands and gigs since 1982 - his pictures include well-known Essex musicians including Dr. Feelgood and Billy Bragg, as well as shots of current acts including Ten Tigers and The Machines.

Richard Crooks has photographed a plethora of Essex-based alternative rock bands including Engerica, Smother, and more recently Baddies, Kenai and Scroobius Pip, but it's his haunting, black & white work with mysterious blues-influenced musician Cuckoo Litefoot - recently published in an E-Book - that will be showcased in Brighton.
