3/5/09 A new competition for unsigned Essex bands is taking entries from May 1 - June 30 2009, for more information on eligability etc. visit the official website. Bands can also create profiles and upload tracks for visitors to vote on.
27/4/09 MySpace, the world’s premier social portal, today announced that Hylands School in Chelmsford will be hosting an ultimate school party with Elliot Minor on Friday 1st May as part of MySpace School Invasions On Tour. The nationwide School Invasions competition gives 13 to 18 year olds the chance to host a gig with a top music act in their school or college. This year, not one but five schools had the chance to win the once in a lifetime gig as well as £1,000 worth of music equipment. Details of all the winners can be found on the MySpace School Invasions profile page. Elliot Minor will be supported by a student band from Hylands School on the day and the school arrange a media room for interviews. Be sure to check out issue 9 of Noisy! for an exclusive report!
16/4/09 Community radio station for Brentwood and Billericay Phoenix FM are broadcasting exclusive sessions recorded by local bands and on Friday April 17 Southend's Ten Tigers will have their session tracks played every hour, on the hour! Make sure you tune in either online at the website or locally on 98FM.
26/2/09 East London's Trap 2 Gallery is hosting an evening promoting the almighty fanzine on Thursday, March 5th 2009 between 6pm - 10pm where "Small press, zines, comics, and all things DIY will be exhibited, swopped and sold". Unfortunately Noisy won't be holding a stall at the event, but to make up for not being able to attend we have made up a limited amount of goody bags containing back issues and bits n' bobs, available to attendees on the night.

19/01/09 Southend based arts/culture mag Level 4 celebrates it’s first birthday on Sun Feb 1st @ Tiffins Restaurant (next to the Kursaal), 11-12 Eastern Esplanade, Southend, 1pm - 6pm with live acoustic music, poets, comedy, short films, a children's drawing competition, pass-the-parcel and interactive workshops. FREE entry. Also an optional Indian buffet (all you can eat - £7.99 adults, £3.99 children, under 5s FREE) available from 1pm. See their myspace page for more details.
04/01/09 Free Chelmsford mag Panic are planning their second awards ceremony. They need your votes for Best Band, Best Venue, Best Club Night, Best Independent Promoter, and Best One-Off Event to be emailed to: panicawards at googlemail dot com by February 1st, after which time the top nominees will go to a final public vote and the winner will be announced at their ceremony on April 9th 2009.

25/8/08 Chelmsford punk band F451 have split up, sadly, but the band will return for one last gig on Friday, 26th September at the Two Brewers pub in Chelmsford - if you never got around to catching these guys live when they toured extensively, you need to catch this!

HEAVY LOAD at the Brentwood Theatre
Brighton punks Heavy Load, subjects of a recent documentary, are performing at the Brentwood theatre on Sunday, 15th November 2009 at a special event organised by radio station Phoenix FM. Just £10 will get you a live screening of the HEAVY LOAD film, which debuted at the ICA last year, followed by a Q & A session with the band, and then the gig itself!
